In The Event Of Inclement Weather ...

It is possible that services & activites could be cancelled because of inclement weather. If the pastors & elders decide to cancel, here is how you can find out :

1. Closing information will be submitted to KCRG - TV 9, KWWL - TV 7, KGAN - TV 2 & on the radio at 92.9 KATFM & 1490 WDBQ.

2. If you would prefer to receive an email, please let the church office know at orlcdbq@gmail.com so we can update our contact lists.

Can you help with Sewing or Alterations

It's time for some extra TLC for our Sunday School Program costumes. Several items need to be repaired or have some minor alterations made. If you are able to assist, please contact Teresa Cose at 563-580-6330.

 

Help With Church History

Do you have a little time on your hands? Think about spending an hour or so once a month helping preserve our church history. We meet on the third Thursday of the month at 10 am in the solarium. If this doesn't work for you, but you have stories you could share on past events at Our Redeemer write them down  & drop them off in the church office. Hope to see you at the next meeting on Thursday, March 21st. Please see Sheila Trapp for more information.

 

The Cleaning Crew Needs You!

Could you spare an hour or two once or twice a month? The Cleaning Crew would appreciate having a few more volunteers to care for the Lord's house. Please contact Dave or Jeanne Gibson at dgibson@netins.net or 563-852-5220 if you are able to help. Thank you!

Flowers For Church Landscaping

Orders for 8" Salmon Geraniums for the church landscaping & flowers for the urns are now being accepted! Please see the table across from the mailboxes or there is a letter & order form that you can print out on the Newsletter / Resource page on this website.

Orders are due in by April 7th. Your donations are greatly appreciated!

Garden Angel

If you are interested in being a Garden Angel, you can sign up on the bulletin board in the hallway by the food pantry. Just pick the number of the small area you would like to care for & sign your name or family name after the number. If the weather cooperates, we will have a spring cleaning before Easter.We'll announce a date later. Thank you for your help in caring for our church landscape. Bill & Kay Posey

 

2019 Altar Flowers

Flowers for the altar are still needed for May 5th & 26th, June 2nd, July14th, 21st, & 28th. If you are interested in placing flowers on the altar, please sign up on the flower chart across from the drinking fountain. Cost is $20.00 per bouquet & you will receive a notice for payment in your mailbox.

 

Food Pantry

Thank you for all of the generous donations during the month of Feb! We have been able to help a number of families, & now the food pantry needs to be restocked! Please consider leaving a non - perishable donation in the cart by the mailboxes - variety is welcomed & we would greatly appreciate canned fruit, crackers & pasta.

 

Youth Group

Minneboji Summer Camp

Minneboji is a 7 day/ 6 night Christian summer camp program for 4th - 9th graders led by pastoral & lay volunteers from South Dakota & Minnesota South districts of the LCMS. Minneboji takes place at the beautiful lakeside facilities of Camp Okoboji - LCMS in Milord, Iowa. Camp this year will be held June 16th - 22nd & registration runs through May 1st. Want to know more? Charity Guild

The Charity Guild will meet in the Solarium Tuesday March 26 at 6:30 pm. Ann Scott will be our guest presenter. Join us for an informative nutrition program.

 

LWML Society

April 14th, Palm Sunday, we will have our famous Baked Goods Sunday during the Bible Class hour. Please give generously as this will helpus to continue the work of the LWML & Lutheran World Relief.

April 27, World Relief Pick Up in Cedar Rapids at Trinity Lutheran Church from 8:30 am - 12:00 pm.

All women of the congregation are invited to join us! We meet on Saturday Mornings so working women can have a chance to be a part of the LWML. Please watch the monthly newsletter for the dates & times as they may vary from month to month.

Mission Of The Month 

January - March Mission

Did you know that Our Redeemer Lutheran Preschool was started in 1971? Did you know the preschool currently serves 42 students? Did you know that 35 families are from the community & 2 from Our Redeemer? Did you kow the children have chapel & learn of Jesus? Did you know the preschool is a mission? Our Redeemer Preschool will be the mission of the month for January, February, & March of 2019.  If you wish to contribute to this fund, please place your donation in your regular envelope & mark "other" line for the mission of the month, & how much you wish to donate. Checks may be made payable to Our Redeemer. Thank you for your generosity! 

 

St. John's Open Closet Donations

St. John's is currently accepting donations for gently used spring / summer clothing. Please do not leave any more fall / winter clothing at this time.  Donations can be left in the coat room - please be sure to attach a note that it is for St. John's. Thank you for your generosity!

 

PRESCHOOL

Registration For Fall 2019

Registration opens to the public on Feb 1st. Please call the church office at 563-588-1247 or stop by to pick up registration information.

We offer 4 sessions of preschool,

2 day programs are for children who are 3 years old by Sept 15, 2019, on Mon & Wed from 8:45 -11:15 am & Tues &Thur 8:45 -11:15 am.

4 day programs are available for children who are 4 or 5 years old by Sept 15, 2019, Mon - Thurs 8:30 - 11:30 am or Mon - Thurs 12:30 - 3:30 pm.

* Please note our Morning 4/5 year old class is full with a waiting list started. *

 

DUBUQUE LUTHERAN SCHOOL

2019 - 2020 Enrollment

Jan. will begin enrollment for the 2019 - 2020 school year. On the newsletter/ resource page you can find a link to the 2019 - 2020 registration form to print out, a link for tuition and fees for 2019, & a link to the tuition assistance application process ( it opens another window.) We have needed to move up our requested due date for registrations to March 27th. Please return student registrations so our staff can begin preparations for the 2019 -20 school year.

DLS Spring Plant Sale 2019

DLS is once again offering flowers & vegetable annuals, perennials, hanging baskets & planters! Orders will be taken the entire month of March, March 1st - 31st. Stop by our display table to pick up order forms & catalogs, a order form can also be printed out on the Newsletter / Resource page on this websitte. Apparel Fundraiser

We have t shirts ( long & short sleeve) available for sale as a fundraiser for DLS. They come in all sizes & a large variety of colors. They display your title (Mom, Dad, Grandma, or Grandpa) with the exponent of how many children are in the family. ( A shirt for a mother of three children would show Mom 3, * smaller 3) The prices & examples are on the order form which can be found in the school office, there is also a order form that you can print out on the newsletter / resource page, or you can contact Sarah Syphard (563-564-2979) ssyphard@live.com to order by April 1st.

Easy Peasy Fundraisers

We need your help! This is super easy to participate in & this is very important to the well -  being of DLS. Thank you to all of you who participate!!!

1. Box Tops for Education - Clip them out & bring them in! We have a collection bin outside the office for these.
