Altar Guild is a volunteer group of the church whose ministry is to care for the preparation of Holy Communion, the altar, vestments, vessels, and altar linens of the church. Altar Guild members prepare the altar for services, and clean up afterwards. Altar Guild members frequently supervise the decoration of the sanctuary.

Our Redeemer has multiple Bible Study opportunities:

  • 1st & 3rd Wednesdays at 9:00 am in the Solarium                                                             - Women in the Word . (Does not meet in the Summer months)
  • Thursdays at 9:00 am Women's Bible Study in the Solarium                                  
  • Fridays at 6:30 am Men's Bible Study in the Fellowship Hall                                 
  • Sunday morning Bible Study from 9:15-10:00 am in the Fellowship Hall               

Bible Study

All women of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church are invited to join the Charity Guild.  We meet the 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM in the Church Solarium.  We have programs and speakers monthly, refreshments and a short business meeting.  We do not meet during the months of June and July.

Our mission is to enable every woman of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) to use her gifts in the ministry of the people of the world.  We have a mite offering at each meeting to support the LWML of Iowa and nationally.

Welcome Center    The Welcome Committee is in need of friendly greeters who like to make visitors feel comfortable and make them aware of the ministry opportunities that Our Redeemer has to offer. Greeters will introduce visitors to the pastors and others and offer to take the visitors on a tour of our building.

Food Pantry     Please consider donating non - expired, non - perishable items including macaroni & cheese, pasta, pasta sauce, soup, canned veggies, baked beans, canned fruit, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, etc. We also accept household items such as soaps, shampoos, toothpaste, & paper goods. All donations can be left in the shopping cart in the hall. We appreciate your generosity!  We take your donations several times a month to the Dubuque Food Pantry for distribution.

Evangelism and Social Ministry

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) meet on the third Thursday of each month during the day. 

The mission of the LWML is to promote a greater awareness of Mission Service among the women at Our Redeemer Congregation and support of the National Lutheran Women's Missionary League.  Their focus is to spread the mission of the Church locally, nationally and internationally.

Our Redeemer Choirs

We have 3 choirs at Our Redeemer.  They practice and sing or play from September through May.   In addition if you, or a group would like to share your musical talent during church services, anytime but especially during the summer months when the choirs are on break we are always looking for volunteers.

SENIOR CHOIR     Senior Choir is always open for new singers, High School age & up. We meet Wednesday at 6 pm, in the Sanctuary to practice, we sing twice per month at both services and also at special services.   RoseMarie Wallace is Sr Choir Director.

TONE CHIMES CHOIR      Tone Chimes Choir practices on Monday, from 4:30 - 5:15 pm, just 45 minutes weekly. Being able to read music is not required to join.  We play one Sunday a month at both services. Kathy Kramer is Tone Chimes Choir director.

Our Redeemer Preschool is dedicated to providing children with Early Childhood experiences to supplement those learned at home. Our Preschool offers young children (ages 3-5) a Christian setting in which to grow, to learn, and to develop physically, spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

Our Redeemer Preschool offers four sessions to best accommodate each individual child.  2-day programs for 3-yr-old preschoolers & 4-day programs for 4 or 5-yr-old preschoolers

Our Redeemer Preschool is a non-profit Christian preschool licensed by the State of Iowa. It complies with all the standards set forth by the Department of Human Services, Iowa Quality Preschool Program Standards, and Iowa Quality Rating Scale (Level 4).

Sunday School

Each summer Our Redeemer holds a themed       Vacation Bible School in July.  

Classes for students age 3 by January 1 of the current year through those just finished with 5th grade are held Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 11:30 pm 

Opening and closing devotions, a Bible story based class time with a new Bible story each day and correlating crafts, snacks and skits every day.

There is no charge, all are welcome to attend.  

Vacation     Bible School

LYF is for students  6th grade - 12th grade. 

  • Our main focus is on Study, Service, and Fellowship. 
  • We try to meet once a month for an activity that relates to a Bible study, a service project, or student fellowship.  
  • In September, high school students are chosen to be officers for the group.   
  • Activities include, game nights, Wednesday night church meals, Easter breakfast, Christmas progressive dinner, Veterans dinner, bowling and more.  
  • We also help with the peach sale fundraiser in August that supports the cost of our activities, as well as the Higher Things Conference held each summer.  
  • Beth Schadel is the current youth group director.  Please contact the office, Beth or look for sign up boards if you are interested in attending the youth group activities.
